Romantasy Shelf

Nora Ashby writes the books and reads the genre.

I write romance and erotica. The books run hot, they hurt in the middle, and the ending is promised before page one.

I have never broken that promise.

Before I wrote full time I spent eleven years behind four feet of lit glass at a mall kiosk, selling rings. People told me the setting, the size and the price. Not one of them told me what they were afraid of. I write down what they left out.

The rings that came back to my counter came back because they were not what the tag said. So I review the way I sold: the heat level and the content notes go on the tag, in plain sight, and the verdict says whether the book was what it claimed to be.

The writing posts are the mechanics from my own desk: the black moment, the grovel, and what a trope owes the reader.

If a book lied to you about its heat, tell me which one. I read my mail at [email protected].
